Radio Atheer provides two sound studios for free!
For the last few years, the Goethe-Institut Ramallah has envisioned empowering and enriching the Palestinian audio sector; and this all came into fruition almost a year ago, with the launching of Radio Atheer – the Palestinian Cultural Radio Program, funded by the European Union, and implemented by the Goethe-Institut in Ramallah.
The program builds on the success of the Radionists Cultural Symposium which was launched by the Goethe-Institut in 2019. The long-term aim of the Symposium was to create an independent space for and with local audio practitioners and to highlight the need to professionalize audio production, enhance cultural journalism skills, and experiment with different types of cultural audio segments/formats.
The Goethe-Institut program management team, have been working diligently over the last few months to lay the foundation for Radio Atheer. The Studio Bus and Sound Laboratory represent two important pillars of the program, and are instrumental in the collection, editing, and broadcasting of Palestinian audio expressions. Both studios can be used by artists, journalists, and cultural producers for free and anywhere. Atheer provides technical support for these producers in order to produce and broadcast their work in the highest quality.
